CONCERT | BONNET

Bonnet et al do not play jazz that seeks to overwhelm the listener, rather jazz that invites one to come closer, to the music and discover it.
EN | Patrieck Bonnet (NL 1992) is a Jazz saxophonist who is increasingly emerging within and around the Dutch Jazz scene.
In his playing, the love the playing of Stan Getz, Zoot Sims and Hank Mobley is noticeable: he embraces the same melodic approach and warm tone in his improvisations. Bonnet et al do not play jazz that seeks to overwhelm the listener, rather jazz that invites one to come closer, to the music and discover it.
In August 2021, his debut album "Homage To One Who Has Flown Away" was released by the Zennezrecords label. An ode to the composer and his grandfather Karel van Dijck (1927-1995), van Dijck served as a clarinettist and as conductor for various military orchestras, such as the Marine Band, Royal Military Band and the Genie in Vught. Patrieck arranged grandfather's compositions including the Suite Antiqua three Inventionen. He made them his own, provided with improvisational space, respecting the original. In addition, he added two works of his own.
The release of "Homage" paved the way for Patrieck to start a new story, in which he can spread his own wings. He is particularly supported by trumpeter Suzan Veneman, pianist Timothy Banchet, double bassist Cas Jiskoot and drummer Jasper Hilgerink.
