EN | Home in the concrete jungle of New York City and inspired by the eclectic cultural mix of their tumultuous surroundings this young Contemporary Jazz duo is aiming for nothing less than bringing the realities of who they truly are to each and every single one of their performances. With a strong focus on empathy and their unifying approach on improvisation, in which every member is at all times allowed to do whatever they want, they infuse their music with a powerful liveliness that can be experienced up close in their heartfelt recordings and concerts. Hailing from two different countries (South Korea, Germany) and influenced by the large cultural, racial and gender diversity they were involved with during their studies at The New School in Manhattan, New York, Sujae Jung’s and Wolf Robert Stratmann’s compositions and improvisations promote equality in every way. Sujae Jung (piano) and Wolf Robert Stratmann (Double Bass) met first during the beginning of their Jazz Bachelor studies The Hague NL in 2019 and have been playing and growing together ever since. With the addition of the German Guitarist Axel Fischbacher and the cypriotic drummer Johnny Agisilaou they form a new exciting Jazz Quartet. Collectively they let their individual artistic heritages, the imagery of their homeland’s vast landscapes and their love for the discovery of the unknown whirl together, transcend cultural barriers and ultimately further the cause of the life enhancing and unifying spirit of jazz music.

EN | Acoustic Jazz Quartet Vintish performs American and Latin Songbook favorites in Django Reinhardt’s Gypsy Jazz style. Cheerful swing rhythms predominate the repertoire and are alternated by passionate bossas, rhumbas and boleros. In addition to vintage jazz standards, the repertoire also includes more modern songs. Because of this, the original name 'The Vintage Jazz Quartet' was changed into 'Vintish'. The quartet, founded in 2022, consists of singer Annemieke Peene, double bassist Roeland Terhuizen and guitarists Carlo Gentenaar and Mick Verweij.
NL | Akoestisch Jazzkwartet Vintish speelt American en Latin Songbook favorieten in de door Django Reinhardt ontwikkelde Gypsy Jazz stijl. Vrolijke swing ritmes voeren de boventoon en worden afgewisseld met bevlogen bossa’s, rumba’s en bolero’s. Op het repertoire staan naast vintage jazzstandards ook modernere nummers. Om die reden veranderde de aanvankelijk aangenomen naam ‘The Vintage Jazz Quartet’ in ‘Vintish’. Het in 2022 opgerichte kwartet bestaat naast zangeres Annemieke Peene uit contrabassist Roeland Terhuizen en de gitaristen Carlo Gentenaar en Mick Verweij.

EN | SLY M is a new band in the Dutch jazz landscape.
This new group contains musicians who can go in all directions musically, but swinging hard is the starting point. Neo-bop, free, Latin and everything else that comes with current jazz music goes into the blender.Sly M consists of three young dogs and a veteran. The musical character of the band is simply the result of the greatest common denominator of the musical personalities that play in it. The music is organic and comes more from the hips than from the head.
Sly M calls it improvised music from the street.

In deze nieuwe groep zitten musici die muzikaal alle kanten kunnen maar keihard swingen is wel het uitgangspunt. Neo-bop, free, latin en alles wat er verder nog voorbij komt aan actuele jazzmuziek gaat de blender in.Sly M bestaat uit drie jonge honden en een oudgediende. Het muzikale karakter van de band is simpelweg het resultaat van de grootste gemene deler van de muzikale persoonlijkheden die er in spelen. De muziek is organisch en komt meer uit de heupen dan uit het hoofd.
Sly M noemt het zelf geïmproviseerde muziek van de straat.
De muziek is sensationeel, adembenemend, ontroerend en opzwepend tegelijkertijd. Invloeden uit "The Old Days" en jazzmuziek van de nieuwe tijd gaan moeiteloos hand in hand. -

EN | Eric Ineke started his career in the sixties. Drummers like Philly Joe Jones and Elvin Jones were his inspiration. In 1969 he made his first record and during his career he recorded numerous CD’s and toured with many great American jazz musicians like Dexter Gordon, Johnny Griffin, George Coleman, Al Cohn, Jimmy Raney, Barry Harris, Eric Alexander, Grant Stewart and David Liebman. He appeared on numerous jazzfestivals like North Sea Jazz , Nice, Pescara, San Remo, Athens, Toronto, Montreal and New York. Since 2006 he is leading The Eric Ineke JazzXpress, a swinging band in the hardbop tradition. In 2012 he published his first book The Ultimate Sideman, which he wrote together with David Liebman, for Pincio Publishers. Even at 75 he teaches at the jazz department of the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague.
NL | Eric Ineke begon zijn carrière in de jaren zestig en speelde sindsdien op talloze platen en met minstens net zoveel grootheden. Eric speelde oa met Dexter Gordon, Johnny Griffin, George Coleman, Al Cohn, Jimmy Raney, Barry Harris, Eric Alexander, Grant Stewart and David Liebman. Hij speelde op jazzfestivals zoals North Sea Jazz , Nice, Pescara, San Remo, Athens, Toronto, Montreal en New York. Sinds 2006 leidt hij zijn eigen band: The Eric Ineke Jazz Express en in 2012 kwam zijn boek The Ultimate Sideman uit. Op 75 jarige leeftijd geeft Eric nog altijd les op het Koninklijk Conservatorium in Den Haag.

Historie
Jazzcafé Bebop is gevestigd in een rijksmonument gebouwd in 1876. Tot 1980 werd het pand gebruikt als pakhuis waar men koffie en thee verhandelde. Firma Schilte & Co hadden het pand in bezit met de winkel op de Brabantse Turfmarkt in Delft. De takel waarmee men de zakken koffie en thee naar boven op de zolders hees, is nog steeds aan de voorkant van het pand te zien.
Na opheffing van de firma Schilte werd het verbouwd tot Jazzcafé Bebop. Een café waar men rustig een biertje van de tap of fles kan drinken (meer dan 90 soorten) en vaak genieten van live muziek (zie hiervoor de agenda onder “live programma”) Ook staat de Bebop bekend om zijn grote assortiment Whiskey’s.
Een gezellig oud café met een prachtige binnentuin waar men met velen 's avonds en overdag kan vertoeven.
