The fifth edition of WOODSTECK is coming! Three stages filled mainly with musicians from Delft who, with their bands but also in unique collaborations, will perform music from past and present: original work and hits by artists they admire.
The bands will perform at STECK, De Kurk, and Jazzcafé Bebop in the Kromstraat in Delft. With your ticket, you can easily hop from one stage to another. At De Kurk, you can also enjoy delicious Woodfood dishes in the courtyard garden—so all the ingredients for a top-notch festival are in place!

NL | Montis & Menu CookbookBaritonsaxofonist Jan Menu en Hammond-organist Frank Montis presenteren hun nieuwe project: Montis & Menu Cookbook. Met een knipoog naar de legendarische bariton/Hammond-combinaties uit de jazzgeschiedenis zoeken deze twee van oorsprong Zeeuwse musici naar de ultieme sound en drive van deze spannende instrument combinatie. Niet door te kopiëren, maar door te eren – en daar hun geheel eigen draai aan te geven.
Het recept
Montis & Menu Cookbook staat voor pure groove en improvisatie, waarin rauwe energie en lyrische verstilling elkaar afwisselen. De diepe klank van de bariton en de warme gloed van de Hammond vormen de basis. Met gitaar en drums erbij ontstaat een dynamisch kwartet met een repertoire van opzwepende swing tot intieme ballads.

EN | Our band was founded in 2023 for a vocal night project at school, in the Royal Conservatoire The Hague. Since then somehow we stayed together for Bettina’s exam as a band. And then in the last semester we have also started to work on our own repertoire which includes a different approach of the interpretation of jazz standards and combining jazz with folk music from our backgrounds. Bettina’s traditional background is the main thread in the band’s story, but we also started to work on Basso’s folk music, from Hong Kong, which creates a wider possibility of creating music together, opening new opportunities and bringing novelty into the color of our work.

Historie
Jazzcafé Bebop is gevestigd in een rijksmonument gebouwd in 1876. Tot 1980 werd het pand gebruikt als pakhuis waar men koffie en thee verhandelde. Firma Schilte & Co hadden het pand in bezit met de winkel op de Brabantse Turfmarkt in Delft. De takel waarmee men de zakken koffie en thee naar boven op de zolders hees, is nog steeds aan de voorkant van het pand te zien.
Na opheffing van de firma Schilte werd het verbouwd tot Jazzcafé Bebop. Een café waar men rustig een biertje van de tap of fles kan drinken (meer dan 90 soorten) en vaak genieten van live muziek (zie hiervoor de agenda onder “live programma”) Ook staat de Bebop bekend om zijn grote assortiment Whiskey’s.
Een gezellig oud café met een prachtige binnentuin waar men met velen 's avonds en overdag kan vertoeven.
