Raised in a quiet family from a little town in the south of Italy, Enrico quickly found music thanks to his nerdy-attitude surfing the internet, some of his closest friends, and Pat Metheny’s shows his father brought him to.

After his friends grew up taller than him, seeing no future in basketball apparently, he picked up the guitar at the age of 13, studying the classical repertoire and rocking out Metallica and Led Zeppelin in his bedroom until he discovered two recordings by Django Reinhardt and Charlie Parker. He immediately fell in love with jazz but had to find it somewhere else, travelling towards the end of High School to Austin, TX, where he could find the blues, and a Big Band to start his experience with.

After finding out that’s what he wanted to do, he moved to Den Haag the Netherlands to study at the Royal Conservatory, and hasn’t stopped travelling ever since, back and forth from New York, Italy, Spain with friendship through music and a deep love for jazz as his motto.

He has toured and won many prizes as a leader and he’s a very active musician internationally, with a fresh and soulful sound, compositionally inspired and true to the jazz tradition.

Vertigo 4, a brand new band with crispy sound plays their own repertoire inspired by legendary grooves by Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea and many other legends from the rich legacy of the 70s.

These unsurpassed heavyweights from the Dutch pop/jazz & fusion scene hand out tough blows, resulting in the almost tangible dynamics of a unique sound.

NL | Vertigo 4, een kakelverse band met crispy sound speelt eigen repertoire geïnspireerd op legendarische grooves van Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea en vele andere grootheden uit het rijke nalatenschap van de jaren ’70.

Deze onvolprezen zwaargewichten uit de Nederlandse pop, jazz & fusion scene delen rake klappen uit, resulterend in de haast tastbare dynamiek van een unieke sound.

CONCERT | Eric Ineke Trio

EN | Eric Ineke started his career in the sixties. Drummers like Philly Joe Jones and Elvin Jones were his inspiration. In 1969 he made his first record and during his career he recorded numerous CD’s and toured with many great American jazz musicians like Dexter Gordon, Johnny Griffin, George Coleman, Al Cohn, Jimmy Raney, Barry Harris, Eric Alexander, Grant Stewart and David Liebman. He appeared on numerous jazzfestivals like North Sea Jazz , Nice, Pescara, San Remo, Athens, Toronto, Montreal and New York. Since 2006 he is leading The Eric Ineke JazzXpress, a swinging band in the hardbop tradition. In 2012 he published his first book The Ultimate Sideman, which he wrote together with David Liebman, for Pincio Publishers. Even at 75 he teaches at the jazz department of the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague.

NL | Eric Ineke begon zijn carrière in de jaren zestig en speelde sindsdien op talloze platen en met minstens net zoveel grootheden. Eric speelde oa met Dexter Gordon, Johnny Griffin, George Coleman, Al Cohn, Jimmy Raney, Barry Harris, Eric Alexander, Grant Stewart and David Liebman. Hij speelde op jazzfestivals zoals North Sea Jazz , Nice, Pescara, San Remo, Athens, Toronto, Montreal en New York. Sinds 2006 leidt hij zijn eigen band: The Eric Ineke Jazz Express en in 2012 kwam zijn boek The Ultimate Sideman uit. Op 75 jarige leeftijd geeft Eric nog altijd les op het Koninklijk Conservatorium in Den Haag.

CONCERT | Juliana Martina

Inspired by the rich diversity of Latin American and Caribbean folklore, Juliana writes her lyrics in Papiamentu, the beautiful language of Curaçao, Bonaire, and Aruba, as well as in her native language, Spanish.

EN | Singer and composer Juliana Martina seamlessly weaves various languages and cultures into her music with her contemporary South American and Caribbean jazz sound. Born on the enchanting Caribbean island of Curaçao into a Colombian family and having moved to Europe at the age of ten, you can hear all those influences in a unique blend that shapes her fresh and distinctive sound.

Inspired by the rich diversity of Latin American and Caribbean folklore, Juliana writes her lyrics in Papiamentu, the beautiful language of Curaçao, Bonaire, and Aruba, as well as in her native language, Spanish.

In this concert, the quartet will be performing the new work from Juliana's debut album 'Laman,' released in October 2023."

 

NL | Zangeres en componiste Juliana Martina verweeft in haar muziek harmonieus verschillende talen en culturen met haar eigentijdse Zuid-Amerikaanse en Caribische jazzgeluid. Geboren op het betoverende Caribische eiland Curaçao binnen een Colombiaanse familie en op tienjarige leeftijd verhuisd naar Europa, hoor je al die invloeden terug in een unieke mix die haar frisse en kenmerkende geluid vormt.

Geïnspireerd door de rijke diversiteit van Latijns-Amerikaanse en Caribische folklore, schrijft Juliana haar teksten in het Papiamentu, de prachtige taal van Curaçao, Bonaire en Aruba, en in haar moedertaal, het Spaans.

In dit concert speelt het kwartet het nieuwe werk van Juliana's debuut album ‘Laman’ dat in oktober 2023 is uitgekomen.
